This page holds the artwork made for the smallest rooms in the house — nurseries first, then the bedrooms those nurseries turn into. Themes are the quickest way through it. There is an ocean group of jellyfish, whales, turtles and dolphins in navy and soft blue, sold in sets of three, four and six; a farmhouse group built around a vintage rabbit and a rather silly goose, painted in the pink gingham and stripes that grandmillennial nurseries are made of; watercolour dinosaurs for a boy's room; fairies, mushroom houses and enchanted gardens; and sun, moon, rainbow and cloud sets in pastel neutrals for a room that has not been decided either way yet.

Flowers run through all of it — wildflower meadows, pastel peonies, and the striped hydrangea sets in pink, blue, purple and green that also hang in grown-up rooms elsewhere in the shop. A large part of this collection can be personalised: a child's name or a single initial painted into a meadow, an ocean scene or a rainbow, which is why these are the pieces most often chosen as a baby shower or newborn gift. Everything is painted in watercolour first, then printed to order on heavy matte paper and shipped unframed, in seven sizes from 5x7 up to 16x20 inches (13x18 to 41x51 cm).

Will nursery art still suit the room in five years?

Some of it will, some of it is not meant to. The illustrated animal and fairy sets tend to be outgrown around school age. The floral, wildflower and neutral sun-and-moon pieces do not — they read as botanical art rather than baby art, which is why they often move into a hallway or a guest room later instead of being replaced.

How high should art hang in a nursery?

Lower than in an adult room, because the person using it is lower. Centre the piece at roughly 120–130 cm (47–51 in) from the floor on an empty wall, or about 20 cm (8 in) above the top of a cot or dresser when there is furniture beneath it. Nothing heavy or glazed should hang directly over where a baby sleeps.

How does a personalised name print work?

You give the name or initial when you order, and the lettering is set into the painting itself rather than printed on top of it — inside the wildflower meadow, along the rainbow, among the sea animals. Personalised pieces are made individually to order, so allow a little more time on those than on the ready-made prints.
